Charitha has over 20+ years of experience as a community broadcaster in Australia. He is a podcast producer for Multilingual News Service and Speak My Language projects. Apart from presenting, he has been involved in other roles in the community broadcasting sector as a president of a radio station, a grant assessor, and a policymaker. He was awarded with a PhD from Deakin University in media and communication.
Charitha currently works as a teacher at the University of Melbourne. His fields of interest include the settlement of migrants and information sharing in CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) communities. He also contributes to advisory committees including Diabetes Australia’s Consumer Advisory Committee, Cardinia Shire Council’s CALD Advisory Committee, and City of Casey’s Arts and Cultural Advisory Committees. Charitha previously worked as a bicultural worker at Cardinia Shire Council.
